Every calculator works for both the USA and India and uses a standard, published formula. Here is what each one does, with examples for both countries, so you can check any result by hand.
Percentages, BMI, loan EMI, SIP and IRR follow textbook maths. The formula sheet lists each one with a worked example.
In both the USA and India, each slice of income is taxed at its own rate. Rates, deductions and options (such as India's old and new regimes) change from year to year, so confirm the current rules on IRS.gov or incometax.gov.in before you file.
Calculations run on your device. We do not store the numbers you type.
Results are for planning and learning. For tax filing, loans or investments, confirm with your lender, the official source or a qualified professional.
The formula behind each calculator, with a quick example.
| Calculator | Formula | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Percentage change | (new − old) ÷ old × 100 | 80 to 100 is a 25% rise |
| BMI | weight (kg) ÷ height (m)² | 70 kg at 1.75 m gives 22.9, inside the WHO healthy range of 18.5 to 24.9 |
| Loan EMI | P × r × (1+r)ⁿ ÷ ((1+r)ⁿ − 1) P = loan amount, r = annual rate ÷ 12, n = months |
India: ₹10,00,000 at 9% for 10 years is about ₹12,668 a month USA: $300,000 at 6.5% for 30 years is about $1,896 a month |
| SIP | P × ((1+i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i × (1+i) P = monthly amount, i = annual rate ÷ 12, n = months |
India: ₹5,000 a month at 12% for 10 years is about ₹11.6 lakh USA: $500 a month at 7% for 10 years is about $87,000 Assumes a fixed return, which real markets do not guarantee. |
| Sales tax / GST | add: price × (1 + rate ÷ 100) remove: total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100) |
USA: $200 at 8% sales tax becomes $216 India: ₹1,000 at 18% GST becomes ₹1,180 |
| Income tax and salary | tax = sum of (income in each slab × that slab's rate) take-home = gross pay − tax India adds 4% cess on the tax |
USA (2026, single, $60,000 taxable): $1,240 + $4,560 + $2,112 = $7,912 India (new regime, FY 2026-27, ₹15,00,000 taxable): ₹1,05,000 + 4% cess = ₹1,09,200 Rates change each year; see IRS.gov and incometax.gov.in. |
